Please see an updated version of Export materials from a course in D2L Brightspace. This wiki page will be retired on January 07, 2027.
How do I export materials from a course?
Course export zip packages can only be opened in a D2L Brightspace environment. To download course files that can be opened outside of a D2L environment, download from the Manage Files area of your course.
Note
Course exports do not contain any student work. Grades, quiz submissions, discussion posts, dropbox submissions, and other student work are not included in course exports.
Additionally custom course homepages and widgets are not included in course exports.

- When you have checked the box for each item you want to copy, click the "Continue" button.
- Repeat as necessary for additional tools.
- Make sure "Include course files in the export package" is checked.
- Click the "Continue" button.
- Wait for D2L to gather together the materials in your course.
- Click the "Finish" button.
- Click the text, "Click here to download the export Zip package".
- Save ZIP file to a secure location, one in which you'll be able to find the file again. You may adjust the name of the file as you save it, but do not change the file extension from ".zip".
- Click the "Done" button.
