Instructional Design
Instructional Design is the process of systematically designing, developing, and delivering instructional experiences, both digital and physical, based upon proven strategies as informed by teaching and learning sciences. The supports linked from this page encompass a wide range of instructional strategies that can be adopted and implemented for use in face to face, blended, multi-modal, and synchronous or asynchronous online courses.
Millersville faculty and instructors are encouraged to use guidelines determined by their respective Colleges, Departments and Programs when constructing courses, especially when building out D2L Brightspace environments for hybrid or online course offerings. This may include use of the MU Template or other D2L templates created for specific online programs. Pages in this Instructional Design section may refer to sections of the SUNY Online Course Quality Review Rubric (OSCQR) where applicable.
Support
For any course offered at the University, regardless of modality, faculty and instructors may request assistance in the use of course templates as well as the design or redesign of course assignments, activities, assessments, or overall course structure. Please contact the IT help desk at (717) 871-7777, help@millersville.edu or submit a ticket from the Help Desk resources page to request a consultation with a campus Instructional Designer.
