Multiple Choice Questions

1. To change the way results are displayed, open the i>clicker software and click "Settings", shown below in the orange box.

2. Click the "Results" tab, shown below in the orange box.

3. By default, the results of a multiple choice question looks as follows

By changing the first setting from color to monochrome, the bar graph will be displayed in shades of gray.

The same graph will look as a follows.

4. You can change the orientation of the bar chart from vertical to horizontal by clicking "Type" from the results chart, shown below in the orange box.

Numeric Questions

1. You can change the number of significant figures with the setting shown below in the orange box. The number of significant characters refers to how many decimal places the software will recognize. Numbers holding value will be replaced with a 0.

Examples: If you were to change the number of significant figures to 2:

  • The answer of a student who submits 102, would be received as 100
  • The answer of a student who submits 2087, would be received as 2000
  • The answer of a student who submits 2001, would be received as 2000
  • The answer of a student who submits 201, would be received as 200
  • The answer of a student who submits 1.111, would be received as 1.1
  • The answer of a student who submits 1.199, would be received as 1.1
  • The answer of a student who submits 1.2, would be received as 1.2

The i>clicker software will not round answers

2. You can change the default bar graph to a histogram by selecting "Histograms", as shown selected in the orange box below.

3. Below is the same results shown on both a bar graph (left) and a histogram (right). Adjusting the number of bins will change the number of vertical lines that appear in the histogram.

Short Answer Questions

1. Short answer answers, like numeric answers, can be set to only show a certain number of characters. For a short answer question, the minimum number of characters is 1, and the maximum 16.

1. Answers with a 16 character limit set may appear as follows.

Those same answers, with a character limit set to 3, will look as follows.

You can change the number of characters shown from the results window be clicking "Characters", shown below in the orange box.

Comparing Results

1. At the "Results Chart" window, you can click "Compare", shown below in the orange box, in order to open multiple results charts. Click here for an example of the use of comparing results.

2. With this feature, you can compare the results of as many different questions from the session as you wish.

Base Display Settings

1. From the i>clicker software settings window, click the "Base Display" tab, shown below in the orange box.

2. Multiple choice results can be displayed as either the percentages representing that number of students that submitted each response, the actual number of students that submitted each response, or both the percentage and the actual number alternating at an interval you decide.

3. Numeric results require a number of top results you would like to display. Numeric results can be displayed as either the percentages representing that number of students that submitted each response, or, he actual number of students that submitted each response, but not both.

4. Short answer results require a number of top results you would like to display. Short answer results can be displayed as either the percentages representing that number of students that submitted each response, or, he actual number of students that submitted each response, but not both.
