How do I export a PowerPoint presentation as a video file for MU Video?

I. Export Your PowerPoint Presentation as a Video

You cannot use PowerPoint Online (Office 365) to export a presentation to a video file.

Using PowerPoint 2016 for Mac

  1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint 2016 for Mac.
  2. In the menu bar, click File.
  3. In the File menu that opens, click: Export...
  4. Set File Format to: MP4
  5. Set Quality to: Presentation Quality
  6. Leave Width and Height as they are.
  7. Check the box for Use Recorded Timings and Narrations if that option is available.
  8. (optional) Adjust Seconds spent on each slide without a set timing to determine for how many seconds to show each slide in your video.
  9. (optional) Modify Export as to set the name of the video file you will create.
  10. (optional) Use Where to choose where PowerPoint will save your video file.
  11. Click the Export button.

Using PowerPoint 2016 for Windows

  1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint 2016 for Mac.
  2. In the menu bar, click File.
  3. In the File menu that opens, click: Export
  4. Choose: Create a Video
  5. Choose: Full HD (1080p)
    Large file size and full high quality (1920 x 1080)
  6. If available, choose: Use Recorded Timings and Narrations
  7. (optional) Adjust Seconds spent on each slide to determine for how many seconds to show each slide in your video.
  8. Click the Create Video button.
  9. (optional) Choose where PowerPoint will save your video file.
  10. (optional) Modify File name to set the name of your video file.
  11. Set Save as type to: MPEG-4 Video
  12. Click the Save button.
