When attending sessions using the Collaborate Ultra Mobile app, I'm sometimes disconnected without warning. How can I stay connected?

While using the Collaborate Ultra Mobile app, please:

  • use a reliable Internet connection
  • do not open other apps on your device
  • do not lock your device
  • do not let your device's screen go to sleep

As a real-time, media-rich online environment, Blackboard Collaborate Ultra places strong demands on the connections over which it runs, and wireless Internet connections, as used by mobile devices, suffer from more reliability and bandwidth issues than do older-style, wired Internet connections. Therefore, when attending a Collaborate session using a mobile device, please try to do so from a location with a strong, reliable wireless Internet connection.

Even with a good Internet connection though, Blackboard Collaborate Ultra will automatically disconnect the Collaborate Ultra Mobile app under some circumstances:

  • If you switch away from the Collaborate Ultra Mobile app—to a web browser, to check email, to anything but Collaborate Mobile on your device—for five minutes, Collaborate will automatically disconnect you.
  • If your Talk button is off in Collaborate Ultra Mobile, and your device is locked for five minutes, Collaborate will automatically disconnect you.
  • If your Talk button is off in Collaborate Ultra Mobile, and your device's screen goes to sleep for five minutes, Collaborate will automatically disconnect you.
