How do I save to my computer the launcher file for a previously recorded Collaborate session?

End-of-Life Warning

You will not be able to access Collaborate or Collaborate Ultra after June 30, 2018.

PASSHE's contract with Blackboard, Inc. for Collaborate and Collaborate Ultra ends on June 30, 2018. After June 30, 2018, you will not be able to access Collaborate rooms, Collaborate Ultra rooms, or any archived recordings you have in Collaborate or Collaborate Ultra.

These instructions assume you have already logged in to D2L and entered the course in which you wish to work.

  1. Click on "Communication" in the navigation bar.
  2. Select "Online Rooms" from the menu that opens.
  3. Locate, at bottom of the Online Rooms tool that opens, the list of Collaborate rooms that have been created within the course.
  4. Locate within that list the room in which you made a recording you now wish to export.
  5. Click on the name of the room.
  6. A rectangle will appear around the name of the room. Locate the downward pointing arrow ( ) at the right end of the rectangle.
  7. Click the downward pointing arrow ( ).
  8. Select " View Archives" from the menu that opens.
  9. The Archives page for the room will open. Locate within the list on the page the recorded session you wish to export. Use the information in the Creation Date column as an aid in determining the correct session.
  10. Click on the name of the session.
  11. Save the recording's launcher file:
    • If your web browser asks you whether to open or save the launcher file (.jnlp or .collab):
      1. Choose to save the launcher file to your computer.
      2. Save the launcher file to a location where you will be able to locate the file again.
    • If your web browser does not ask you whether to open or save the file, but instead automatically opens Blackboard Collaborate:
      1. Close Blackboard Collaborate.
      2. Reconfigure your web browser to ask you what to do with launcher files instead of automatically opening Blackboard Collaborate.
      3. Retry the instructions on this page.
