This page tells you how to move a file which you are currently uploading or editing.

To move a file, you need the following permissions:

  • Edit permission on the file you are moving, and
  • Read permission on the folder you are moving the file to.

To move a file you are creating:

  1. Click on the 'Placement Folder' field, located below the File Name field in the dialog.
  2. In the Choose a folder window, select from recently used folders, or use the browse or search features to find the correct folder.
  3. Click on the desired placement folder.
  4. Click the 'Choose' link in the upper right-hand corner.
  5. When you are ready, click the 'Preview Draft' button in the upper right of the dialog.
  6. Once you have ensured that everything is appearing correctly in the preview, click the 'Submit' button above the preview frame.
  7. Publish the file.

To move an existing file:

  1. View the file you want to move.
  2. Under the More () menu located to the upper right of the page preview, click on the Move link.
  3. Click on the New Folder field.
  4. In the Choose a folder window, select from recently used folders, or use the browse or search features to find the correct folder.
  5. Click on the desired placement folder.
  6. Click the 'Choose' link in the upper right-hand corner.
  7. Click the Move button in the upper right of the dialog.

More information about moving files

  • Cascade will automatically change all internal links to point to the new file location.
  • Published pages will still reference the files's old location until they are published. See Publishing a File for more information.
