This page assumes you have already uploaded an image into Cascade. If you have not, please follow the advanced image insertion instructions, or follow the file upload instructions.

To insert an image using the 'Insert Image' window,

  1. In the WYSIWYG component, place your cursor at the point where you want to insert the image.
  2. Click the 'Insert Image' icon in the toolbar. The 'Insert/edit image' window will open (see screenshot #1).
  3. Click the 'Choose File' icon to open a Cascade file chooser (see screenshot #2).
  4. Navigate to and select the image you want to insert.
  5. Click the 'Choose' button in the right-hand panel.
  6. Enter the 'Image Description' for the link. This will provide an additional description about the image that is necessary for accesibility.
  7. Click the 'Ok' button to insert the image.

Inserting an image from Outside Cascade

Follow the instructions above, click the 'External' tab and enter the URL of the image in the 'Image' field.

Updating an Inserted Image

Follow the instructions above to insert an image, this will allow you to update the selected image.

To resize an inserted image in the WYSIWYG editor,

  1. Click the image you want to resize.
  2. Left-click and drag the appropriate square, white handle along the edges of the image.

To resize an inserted image using the 'Insert/Edit Image' window

  1. Click the image you want to resize.
  2. Click the 'Insert/Edit Image' icon in the toolbar.
  3. Change the Width/Height values.
    • These values are in pixels.
    • Leaving one field blank will scale the image proportionally using the filled in field.

This does not reduce the file-size or dimensions of the image, this only tells the browser to render the image to a smaller size on the page.

To remove an inserted image,

  1. Click the image you want to remove from your page.
  2. Press the 'Backspace or Delete' key on the keyboard.

This does not remove the image from Cascade, this will remove the image from within the page's content.

Common Image Dimensions

Masthead Image

  • 1400px x 485px

Faculty or Staff Profile Image

  • 300px x Any Height

Note: Dimensions are in pixels and formatted by Width x Height.
